While good design might be long-lasting, not everything in this world shares that trait. Waste has become a part of our every day. Because right now, waste is easy. If the equipment falters or the food looks less than perfect, discarding and buying new feels like the easiest step. When obsolescence is part of everyday design, it becomes a part of everyday life, too. We know the decisions made every day in every single home have the power to change the world.

80% of a product’s environmental impact is determined at the design stage

That’s why it is important to have a systemic approach to product development following our new Group Eco-Design Guidelines, a manual developed in cooperation with experts of Politecnico di Milano that set the basis of strategic knowledge of a new - generation of eco-efficient appliances. As a step forward 70% of our newly developed products will be covered by this Eco-Design Guideline from 2023 on.

Minimisation

Energy and material consumption as well as material toxicity and harmfulness shall be minimised.

Optimisation

Life of products and components and material conservation/renewability shall be optimised.

We believe that good design can make lives better.

Back in the 70s Dieter Rams developed Braun’s memorable design language and defined 10 principles of good design that are still relevant today. While these principles have been a part of our DNA from the start, we’re always looking to the future.

Good Design is environmentally friendly.

We aim to use as little resources as possible and work on increasing the usage of materials in our products that are either recycled, recyclable, or both.

Moving forward, we are working on having at least 30%* of recycled plastic over the total plastic used in newly developed/upcoming products as of 2027 according to our commitment regarding material recycling.

Moreover, we have already saved more than 100 tons of paper through the partial digitalisation of our user instruction manuals for products globally sold in 2022. Also, there was no EPS (Synthesized Expanded Polystyrene) in the packaging of 53% of the Braun products sold in 2022.

Pred 55 rokmi som pri narodení dcéry dostala darom tri spotrebiče Braun: mixér, odšťavovač a lis na ovocie. Všetky tri spotrebiče používam od roku 1960 takmer denne. Chcela by som preto poďakovať za skvelú kvalitu a všetky tie roky používania bez akýchkoľvek opráv.

V prevádzke 12 375 hodín.

V roku 1998 sme si kúpili kuchynský robot Braun Combimax 700. Moja žena má varenie ako koníček, takže ho používala takmer každodenne. A nie len raz či dvakrát, ale niekedy aj viac než dve alebo tri hodiny – samozrejme s prestávkami. Po asi 10 rokoch sme si začali vravieť, ako dlho ešte vydrží. V roku 2008 sme preto kúpili nový kuchynský robot – samozrejme tiež Braun Combimax 700 – aby sme boli pripravení na chvíľu, keď ten pôvodný prestane fungovať. Ten však fungoval stále bezchybne. Potom, 25. septembra 2014 (!!!), konečne po 16 a pol roku vypovedal službu! Celkový výpočet: 198 mesiacov × 25 dní.
